Every House of Tekel piece is cut for the dachshund body. Here's how to find your dog's perfect fit.
Dachshunds come in two official sizes — miniature and standard — but within each category there's huge variation. We recommend always measuring your dog rather than going by breed category alone. A soft tape measure and a treat will make the job easy.
From the base of the neck (where collar sits) to the base of the tail. Keep the dog standing naturally.
The widest point of the chest, just behind the front legs. The most important measurement for dachshunds.
Around the base of the neck where the collar sits. Add 2cm for comfort.
| Size | Back Length (A) | Chest Girth (B) | Neck (C) | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 27 – 33 cm | 33 – 38 cm | 22 – 26 cm | Miniature dachshund |
| M | 34 – 42 cm | 39 – 46 cm | 27 – 32 cm | Standard dachshund |
| L | 43 – 52 cm | 47 – 56 cm | 33 – 38 cm | Larger standard dachshund |
If your dog measures between two sizes, size up. Dachshunds need room to walk, sniff, and be dramatic.
The chest measurement is most critical for dachshunds. Always prioritize chest girth over back length.
Sweaters have more stretch — size down if between sizes. Jackets are more fitted — size up for layering.
